My role is to provide Esther with targeted research on behalf of our clients and candidates. On the client side, I attend the regular meetings we schedule with firm managing and hiring partners, practice group leaders and recruiting staff, which allow us to maintain current and detailed information regarding who/what could be of interest; office and firm practice group composition; integration, marketing and cross-marketing strategies; compensation methods; plans to merge/acquire/add offices; the recruitment process; and much more. By determining hiring wish lists, necessary books of business, billing rates, client conflicts and firm culture, we have the intelligence that our candidates require before agreeing to introductions and hopefully a first meeting. This careful match-making results in our ability to streamline our clients’ lateral search efforts.

On the candidate side, once I understand the qualities an attorney is hoping for in a new firm, I will develop a spreadsheet of potential opportunities. Factoring in a variety of elements that may include firm size, national and/or international footprint, practice group strengths, AmLaw ranking, diversity, profitability, cross-marketing success, retirement policies, etc., our individualized list offers candidates as strong a professional and personal fit as possible. Often, these in-depth dives into the market discover opportunities at firms of which our candidates may not be aware or have current knowledge. Success to us is a mutually beneficial match of client and candidate and we want to offer every possible opportunity to realize that goal.

I joined Alpert Associates in 2013 after a long volunteer career that included event marketing and research at the Jewish Federation in Baltimore and serving as the board president for a primary school in Annapolis. I received a B.A. from George Washington University and am a resident of Washington, DC.
